Book in a Jar Competition
World Book Day
A huge thank you and a big well done to all the children that entered our Book in a Jar competition for World Book Day. Every entry was incredibly creative and it was clear to see that a lot of thought and time had gone in to each design.
This evening we celebrated everything ‘arts.’ Children who have shone in any area of the arts were invited to an awards ceremony.
Presentations were made for;
Contribution to the arts,
Commitment to music,
Design and Technology,
Many congratulations to all of the children and their families who received awards.
On the 28th February Mr and Mrs Finch were on TV! They starred in the show ‘Tenable’ with Warwick Davis.
On this show you have to try to get 10 answers that are linked to the question that Warwick asks.
We could not believe Mrs Finch managed to get a question about soaps! They all did so well. We will look forward to seeing you on TV again very soon!
A day in the life of a farm hand 4/2/19
Lewis in Year 5 spent the morning with Ash on his farm learning how to be a farmer. Ash breeds Titan Texels on his farm and they can sell for up to £15k per sheep!
Lewis fed the sheep with pellets, filled up the feeders with hay, held the lambs that were only a couple of hours old and sprayed their umbilical cords with iodine to keep them clean.
Ash awarded Lewis with a special ‘farm handler’ Rosette and invited him back to the farm in a few weeks.
Gifted and Talented Maths Day at Westville Primary School Ilkley 1/2/19
7 of our most talented Mathematicians spent the day at Westville School. They worked in teams with children from Carleton, Gargrave, Christ Church and Westville Schools.
Their Mathematical knowledge was put to the test when solving Einstein’s Logic puzzle, bridge puzzles, a mathematical maze and a water challenge.
Our children, as always were a credit to Greatwood, resilient, hard working and their excellent behaviour was commented on by the host school.
An amazing day at Broughton Hall Literature Festival 29/8/18
We thoroughly enjoyed celebrating the power of ‘books’ at Broughton Hall Children’s Literature Festival.
Poets, Authors, Illustrators and Storytellers inspired us to continue our love for books. We even met the Dark Lord himself!
The story character scarecrow trail was a highlight of the day, we even found the scarecrows that we made last term!
What a fantastic Saturday out! Thank you to Mrs Yeoman, Mrs Finch, Mrs Smurthwaite, Mrs Godfrey, Mrs Evans and Mrs Robinson for organising the trip and making it such a wonderful event.
On Saturday 8th September we travelled to Wembley to watch England 🏴 v Spain 🇪🇸
Mrs Yeoman, Mrs Hoggarth and Mr Magee took 23 Y5 and Y6 children along with a group of children from Carleton Endowed School all the way to Wembley!
We had an absolutely fantastic trip, and although England didn’t win we still thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
This Trip would not have been possible without Miss Hoggarth, who organised the trip. On behalf of the children, ‘Thank You!’
