What is being done at Greatwood to help prevent the spread of COVID-19?

We have completed an extensive risk assessment, this has been ratified by our LGB and Northern Star Academies Trust Board of Trustees. We have put into place infection control measures to reduce the risk to everyone-

The following measures have been implemented at Greatwood:

  • Children washing hands regularly with soap for at least 20 seconds
  • 70% Alcohol sanitiser units have been installed in all classrooms and all entrances to the building
  • All classrooms have been installed with pedal bins
  • More regular cleaning of classrooms and the whole school
  • Children and staff are in class bubbles of no more than 30 children, this will reduce contact with too many people

School has been split into three zones:

Zone 1: Nursery, Reception and Year 1

Zone 2: Year 2 and Year 3

Zone 3: Year 4, Year 5, Year 6

  • All children have varied start, playtime, lunch and finish times
  • Timetable changes have been made to minimise contact between groups
  • Different entrances and exits for different bubbles
  • Social distancing measures wherever possible
  • Walkie Talkies have been supplied in every classroom in order to reduce the amount of movement around school
  • Lunches are being delivered to classrooms rather than all children eating in the hall
  • Our After School Provision now has three separate areas for each Zone of children
