What is V. E. Day and when are we celebrating it?
V.E Day stands for Victory in Europe Day, which took place on Tuesday 8th May 1945. It celebrated the end of the Second World War, which lasted from September 1939 to May 1945.
On Friday the 8th May this year it will be 75 years since the war ended. People all across the country and in many parts of the world will be commemorating this milestone. Many of the events which had been planned to celebrate this event have been cancelled to keep people safe, but Friday will remain a public holiday.
Ben Parkinson, a soldier who was badly injured in a more recent conflict is encouraging us to celebrate this special day by making bunting to put in your windows and gardens. I have attached a couple of links for you to look at and some activities to do if you have spare time.
I hope you enjoy this special day and if you are able it would be great if you could take pictures to put on our class page. You can e-mail them to firstname.lastname@example.org
