We are delighted to welcome our Year 1 children back to school. This half term our main focus is going to be settling the children back into our school routines and making sure they all feel happy and safe. This summer we have had a brand new door installed from our classroom which means that our children can access outdoor provision continuously. This will be more important than ever after what has been a very disruptive start to their schooling experiences.
This half term our main focus text is The Tiger Who Came to Tea, this text links in beautifully with our topic 'All about me.' On a Friday we will have our music lessons with Mrs Yeoman where we will be introducing the terminology Pitch, Beat, Pulse and Tempo. The children will learn to use their voices to create their own pieces of music and they will perform in front of the class.
In Science we are looking at Animals including humans and are focusing on different body parts and their functions. Our Art focus is looking at drawing and portraits, we are really excited to be presenting our art work in an Art Exhibition on the 14th October.
